The other day I realized that two everyday conversations in entirely different areas of my life had started reminding me of one another. In discussions with clients this time of year, many ask how they can save on tax dollars, while in recent conversations with friends and family, many ask why I am (still) single.
Although one road leads to the IRS and the other road leads to dating apps, my aversion to these two things is not why they suddenly began tracking together in my mind. It’s how, in both conversations, I’ve realized that the mental blocks of “it’s complicated” keep the best kept secrets kept.
